Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday expressed deep concern over the prevailing violence in the Rangamati and Khagrachari hilly areas.

In a statement, Fakhrul said the allies of the defeated force are still engaged in hatching conspiracy to create an anarchical situation in the country.

Fakhrul also demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the miscreants and prayed for salvation of the departed souls as well as extended his sympathy to the bereaved families.

"The countrymen got relief from the horrific misdeeds of the fascist Awami League government but the nation is still not secured as the allies of the defeated force got disparate to create anarchy in the country," he added.

Fakhrul said the conspirators are unable to accept the historic victory of the student-led movement, and thus, they went on a nationwide killing spree to disturb the current interim government.

The violent incidents and the casualties are a brutal manifestation of the conspiracy and there is no alternative but to suppress the terrorist group with a strong hand, the BNP secretary general said.

The people irrespective of party affiliation will have to remain alert so that conspirators cannot reach their destination through a bloodstained path, Fakhrul said.

The BNP secretary general wished for the swift recovery of the people injured in the attacks.
