On 3 April 1973, Martin Cooper, a Motorola engineer, made the world's first mobile phone call while walking through downtown Manhattan.

Using a Motorola DynaTAC prototype, he called Bell Labs in New Jersey, marking a breakthrough in telecommunications.

The historic call paved the way for the modern mobile phone industry, revolutionising communication and eventually leading to the development of the smartphones that dominate today’s world.
