On 25 March 1436, Pope Eugene IV consecrated the magnificent Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, marking the completion of its awe-inspiring dome—the largest in the world at the time—designed by the visionary architect Filippo Brunelleschi.

A masterpiece of Renaissance engineering, the dome, constructed without traditional wooden scaffolding, stood as a testament to human ingenuity and artistic ambition.

With the patronage of Cosimo de' Medici, the cathedral became the heart of Florence, symbolising the city's wealth, power, and cultural ascendancy during the Renaissance.
