The Third Battle of Panipat, fought on 14 January 1761, marked one of the most devastating confrontations of the 18th century, as the Afghani Durrani Empire decisively defeated the Maratha Empire in Northern India.
This monumental clash resulted in the loss of 60,000–70,000 lives during the battle, with an additional 40,000 Maratha prisoners brutally massacred in its aftermath.
