Polytechnic students who had blocked the Sat Rasta intersection in Dhaka today have left the road after receiving assurances that their six-point demands will be met.

Under the banner of the "Technical Student Movement," the students began their protest at noon on Monday, causing severe traffic congestion in Dhaka, particularly in the Tejgaon area.

The demonstration lasted for six hours, with the students clearing the road around 6:00 pm.

The students have blocked the road to protest against the cancellation of non-technical appointments in technical positions.

The other demands placed by students includes are: ensuring that Diploma Engineering courses are of four-years tenure and have complete semesters of six months, creating a rule enabling only diploma engineers to apply for sub-assistant engineer (10th Grade) positions, restructuring the Polytechnic Education Board so that no one except those having polytechnic backgrounds can run the sector, filling up the vacancies by recruiting teachers having polytechnic education and ensuring 100% seats at the four proposed engineering colleges for students coming out of polytechnic institutions.
