A Chhatra Dal leader was killed during a clash with police in Magura.

Mehedi Hasan, also known as Rabbi, a senior joint general secretary of the district BNP's student wing, succumbed to gunshot wounds following a violent clash with police and Awami League leaders and activists.

The incident occurred in the Par Nanduali area at around 11:30am on Sunday (4 August).

Mehedi was subsequently brought to Magura's 250-bed hospital at approximately 12:00pm, where he was admitted with gunshot injuries.

Despite the medical team's efforts, Mehedi passed away at around 12:30pm while receiving treatment, said Dr Mohsin Uddin, the director of the hospital.

"Mehedi had been brought in with bullet wounds and his body bore the marks of the shooting," he added.

At least ten other individuals had been admitted to the hospital with injuries sustained during the clashes, he further said.
