An inter-ministerial meeting was held at the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to formulate a strategy for the implementation of the Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan (MCPP) as part of the 100-day work plan of the ministry.
The meeting was held on Tuesday in the conference room of the ministry under the chairmanship of Secretary Dr Farhana Ahmed, reads a press release issued by the environment ministry today.
In the meeting, Secretary Dr Farhana Ahmed said that the coordinated efforts of the relevant ministries and agencies of the government are essential for the implementation of the MCPP.
She said, "We want to formulate the strategy within a set time frame taking everyone's opinion." She added that the strategy will play an effective role in climate adaptation and mitigation measures, increased use of renewable energy, afforestation and sustainable management of forest resources.
In the meeting, representatives of various ministries and agencies gave their opinions on the steps to be taken to formulate the MCPP strategy. All the participants assured their full cooperation in the speedy and effective implementation of the MCPP.
Others present at the meeting included the Ministry's Additional Secretary (Administration) Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury, and senior officials of various ministries.The Ministry's Deputy Secretary Dharitri Kumar Sarkar gave a powerpoint presentation on the Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan.
