The health ministry will conduct raids on hospitals across the country from 27 February to supervise the management of the healthcare facilities, Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen said today.
“A "zero tolerance policy" will be followed if a child dies due to negligence of hospital authorities and doctors,” the health minister said at a press briefing at the conference room of the health ministry.
He said the prime minister has issued directions to take action against those who would be found guilty in the health sector.
He also announced that the health ministry has formed a three-member committee tasked with investigating the recent deaths of three individuals during medical procedures, which includes the fatalities of two children during circumcision operations.
“Apart from taking strict action against the health centre involved, if found guilty all measures will be taken to ensure strict punishment for those who were negligent in the incident," he said.
He stated that measures would be implemented to prevent any other organization from daring to neglect such a significant responsibility in the future.
Regarding the campaign, the minister emphasized that it is not solely directed at private hospitals but against any hospital found to be non-compliant with regulations. Hospitals lacking essential treatment facilities will not be permitted to remain operational.
