Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman and former MP Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho has been placed on a 5-day remand in a case filed over the attack on Setu Bhaban during the quota reform protests.

The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohag Uddin passed the order after the DB police produced him before the court seeking a 10-day remand.

Earlier, the day day, Andaleeve Rahman Partho, son of Barkatullah Bulu, and two more BNP leaders were arrested on charge of inciting violence during the quota reform protests.

In a statement on Thursday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir claimed that law enforcers picked up Barrister Andaleeve from his residence at 1:00am today.

Besides BNP’s Health Affairs secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam, standing committee member Tariqul Islam Tenjing, BNP Vice Chairman Barkatullah Bulu's son Saniat  (who is not involved in politics) were arrested from different parts of the capital as part of arrest spree across the country over quota movement, said Mirza Fakhrul.

He issued the statement condemning the recent mass arrest of BNP and other opposition leaders and activists.
