A total of 229 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh have been deployed all over the country, including Dhaka, to keep the law and order situation normal.
The deployment of large number of BGB personnel came following the complete shutdown enforced by the quota protesting students, said Shariful Islam, public relations officer of BGB.
On Wednesday, students protesting for quota reform in government jobs have announced complete shutdown across the country.
Asif Mahmud, a key coordinator of the Anti-discriminatory Student Movement, said, "In protest against the heinous attacks, murders, and assurance of a terror-free campus, we are declaring a nationwide complete shutdown for Wednesday."
