A human chain was organised in front of The Daily Star Centre in the capital today, demanding justice over the death of house help Preeti Urang.

Fifteen-year-old Preeti Urang died after falling from the eighth-floor flat of Daily Star’s Executive Editor Ashfaque Haque eighth-floor in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on 6 February.

The participants at the programme that started at 11:00am under the banner of "Shocheton Nagorik Shomaj", also demanded punishment for those responsible for Preeti 's death by ensuring a fair investigation into her death.

A day after Preeti's death, her father Lokesh Urang, a tea garden worker, filed a case against Ashfaqul and his wife Tania Khondoker under Section 304 (A) of the Penal Code.

Earlier, on 13 February, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court placed the accused on a 4-day remand in the case.
