Microsoft has expressed interest in developing artificial intelligence (AI) experts and developers in Bangladesh, enhancing international business capabilities among startups, and providing technological support for cybersecurity, said State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

Microsoft's Managing Director for Bangladesh Yousup Faruqu conveyed the message during a courtesy call on Zunaid Ahmed Palak at the Secretariat on Tuesday (11 June).

During the meeting, they discussed various topics, including the Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub, cybersecurity, and the creation of a unified platform for comprehensive data and AI solutions.

The state minister said the world is undergoing a revolutionary transformation through artificial intelligence (AI), which presents numerous challenges. He said to realize Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision of a "Smart Bangladesh," it is imperative to overcome these technological challenges.

Palak said Microsoft could play a significant role in developing cybersecurity experts and new technological tools to ensure cybersecurity across various sectors, including banking, telecommunications, and ICT.

He further said that achieving the vision of a prosperous and advanced Smart Bangladesh by 2041, including smart citizens, a smart society, a smart economy, and a smart government, is impossible without leveraging AI.

He pointed out that the current challenge is to encourage innovation while controlling its misuse.
