Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has cautioned party members to be cautious so as not to gain a bad reputation for corruption.
“Those of you who took part in the election received more or less votes. You have to work keeping in mind that the trust people have placed in you should not be dishonored,” said the premier while addressing the special extended meeting of the ruling Awami League at the official residence Ganabhaban today (10 February).
The Prime Minister also said none could raise any questions regarding the fairness of the 12th national election.
“The election was made open for all so that none can question its fairness. Those who try to question the election have to point out the reasons supporting their claim.”
Directing the authorities concerned to ensure punishment for the arsonists, the prime minister said, “There was a positive aspect to the arson incident this time, as the BNP openly set fire to vehicles, railways, and other places. They also took photos of their misdeeds to send to their leader living in London. Whatever means they used to send the photo using a digital system, it is no big deal to obtain the evidence.”
The prime minister also instructed the authorities to ensure trials in the cases filed over the persecution that took place during the BNP regime in 2001-2005.
