Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that Nordic countries will strengthen cooperation on environmental protection, climate change action, and sustainable development.

The minister also urged further enhancement of collaboration in sharing technologies for climate adaptation and mitigation, promoting renewable energy sources, and supporting Bangladesh's efforts to implement its climate plans.

The Environment Minister made these remarks during a meeting with the ambassadors of the Nordic countries: Alexandra Berg von Linde, Ambassador of Sweden in Bangladesh, Dhaka; Espen Rikter-Svendsen, Ambassador of Norway in Bangladesh, Dhaka; Christian Brix Moller, and Ambassador of Denmark in Bangladesh, Dhaka. The meeting took place at his office on Monday, said a press release.

The Environment Minister also urged collaboration to conserve Bangladesh's rich biodiversity and address challenges such as deforestation. He further requested the sharing of expertise and technologies for air, water, and soil pollution control, as well as the promotion of waste management solutions.

The Nordic ambassadors reiterated their commitment to supporting Bangladesh's environmental goals and expressed interest in exploring new avenues for collaboration. They commended Bangladesh's leadership in addressing climate change and its efforts to promote sustainable development. Additionally, they invited the Environment Minister to the Nordic day next month.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both sides to work together to address environmental challenges and build a more sustainable future for Bangladesh and the world.

Later, a delegation from the United Nations Office for Project Services, led by Country Manager Bangladesh Sudhir Muralidharan, called on the Environment Minister to discuss various ongoing UN projects and explore opportunities for collaboration with the ministry.
