Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today stated that there is no possibility of a diplomatic crisis in Bangladesh.
"Many people thought that a diplomatic crisis could arise in the country after the election. I want to assure them that there is no possibility of that," said the law minister.
Anisul Huq made these remarks following a meeting with Pranay Kumar Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka, at the Secretariat on Monday (22 January).
"I do not term it as a crisis. I say there is a fear in your mind. It would be a diplomatic crisis. Now, you are seeing that there is no possibility of such crises," Anisul Huq added.
When questioned about the discussions with the High Commissioner of India, the Law Minister said, "It is necessary to always clarify the application of laws and provisions in the development partnership with India as our neighboring country. Apart from these, the legal infrastructures of Bangladesh and India are almost similar for a long time. So, we always discuss the possibilities of changes already brought by India in their legal infrastructures, to Bangladeshi ones and vise versa. We held that discussion today also."
