An emergency hotline number, '333,' is set to be introduced on 31 January, allowing consumers to file complaints about overpriced product.
State Minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, announced this initiative on Monday during a program at the ministry.
"Customers can inform the concerned authorities by calling the emergency hotline '333'. Every citizen can avail of this facility. Action will be taken against anyone charging prices higher than the government-fixed prices," said Palak.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to control the prices of daily commodities. Therefore, we have taken the initiative to monitor markets through technology. Information will be accessible through mobile apps and a zoning system. All details, including production, storage, marketing, and import, will be provided on different websites,” added Palak.
