The government has raised the retail prices of soybean oil by up to Tk14 per litre, marking a fresh increase amid volatile global commodity trends.
At a review meeting held at the secretariat on Tuesday (15 April), focusing on edible oil import and supply, Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin announced the revised pricing structure.
He stated that the price of bottled soybean oil has been increased by Tk14 per litre, setting the new retail rate at Tk189.
Meanwhile, the price of loose soybean oil has been raised by Tk12 per litre, bringing it to Tk169. The new rates are to be implemented without delay.
Earlier, on the night of 13 April, the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association had issued a notice announcing the price hike.
However, the decision had not been enforced as it awaited official government approval.
It is worth noting that the last price revision for bottled soybean oil took place on 9 December last year, when the rate was fixed at Tk175 per litre.
