Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a letter to Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, offering his congratulations to the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of their Independence Day.
In a message shared by the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh, Modi expressed, "I extend my felicitations to you and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of the National Day of Bangladesh."
He highlighted that this day is a "testament to our shared history and sacrifices, which have laid the foundation of our bilateral partnership."
Modi also acknowledged that the spirit of Bangladesh's Liberation War continues to guide the relationship between the two nations, which has flourished across multiple domains, benefiting both peoples.
He reaffirmed India's commitment to advancing this partnership, built on mutual respect and a shared vision for peace, stability, and prosperity.
"Our relationship is driven by common aspirations, and we remain sensitive to each other's interests and concerns," he stated.
In a similar gesture, Indian President Droupadi Murmu conveyed warm greetings to her Bangladeshi counterpart, Mohammed Shahabuddin, on the occasion of Bangladesh’s National Day.
Murmu praised the multifaceted relationship between India and Bangladesh, which spans areas such as trade, connectivity, development, power, energy, education, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people ties.
She further stated that Bangladesh is a key focus of India’s "Neighbourhood First" and "Act East" policies, as well as its SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) doctrine and Indo-Pacific Vision.
"India reiterates its support for a democratic, stable, inclusive, peaceful, and progressive Bangladesh," Murmu added.
