Bangladesh and Mexico have acknowledged the upcoming 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2025, viewing it as a prime opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Mexico, during a meeting at the Mexican Foreign Ministry, María Teresa Mercado Pérez, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, discussed this milestone with Bangladesh’s Ambassador Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey. Ambassador Mushfique proposed organizing joint initiatives and celebrations to commemorate the occasion and reinforce the growing friendship between the two nations.
Their discussions centered on expanding diplomatic and economic collaboration. María Teresa congratulated Ambassador Mushfique on the successful presentation of his credentials earlier in the week and reaffirmed Mexico’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Bangladesh.
Both sides also discussed plans to hold the 3rd Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Mexico between late August and early September, aiming to enhance engagement across various sectors.
Ambassador Mushfique emphasized the importance of finalizing pending agreements in key areas, including agriculture, defense, visa waivers, football, and the avoidance of double taxation. He also advocated for the establishment of a Mexican Embassy in Dhaka to further facilitate cooperation.
María Teresa assured Bangladesh of Mexico’s full support in advancing these initiatives, highlighting her country’s commitment to strengthening ties. Both nations expressed optimism about the future of their relationship and their shared vision for deeper engagement in the coming years.
