Advance bus ticket sales for Eid-ul-Fitr travel will commence on 14 March, with tickets available both online and at physical counters.

From 25 March, a seven-day pre-Eid ticket sales period will be in place to accommodate the expected surge in travellers.

The decision was taken at a preparatory meeting on Thursday (6 March) by the Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association.

The association’s acting general secretary, Shubhankar Ghosh Rakesh, said that bus operators had collectively agreed on this arrangement.

While many operators will sell tickets through both counters and online platforms, some companies will exclusively offer online bookings.

Regarding fare regulations, Rakesh assured that ticket prices would adhere strictly to the rates set by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), and no additional charges beyond the official fare structure would be permitted.

Transport owners have been instructed to comply with this directive.

Speaking on Eid-specific preparations, he stated that bus operations would run as usual during the festive season.

However, he emphasised the need for administrative vigilance at key exit points from Dhaka to prevent severe congestion.

Additionally, the association will deploy monitoring teams at bus terminals, and a security measure is being considered for night coaches, where CCTV recordings will be conducted before departure.

Expressing optimism, Rakesh anticipated that this year’s Eid travel experience would be smoother than previous years, ensuring a more comfortable journey for holidaymakers.
