The total number of registered voters in Bangladesh has reached 12 crore 37 lakh 32 thousand 274, according to the final electoral roll published by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin.

Of this figure, male voters account for 6 crore 33 lakh 61 thousand 615, while female voters number 6 crore 3 lakh 69 thousand 665.

The CEC announced the updated voter count on Sunday (2 March), after inaugurating National Voter Day in front of the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka.

Speaking at the event, he reiterated the Election Commission’s commitment to ensuring free, fair, and credible elections.

“We have pledged to the nation that we will deliver transparent elections, and we remain steadfast in fulfilling that promise, overcoming all challenges,” he stated.

The occasion was marked by a ceremonial inauguration by the CEC, followed by a vibrant rally.

Later in the morning, at 11am, a discussion session was held at the Election Commission auditorium, presided over by the CEC.

The event was attended by four election commissioners, the Election Commission secretary, and other senior officials.

The government of Bangladesh initially designated 1 March as National Voter Day during a cabinet meeting in April 2018 to raise awareness about democracy, elections, and voting rights. However, from 2019 onwards, the observance was shifted to 2 March.
