The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has set a deadline of 20 April for the completion of an investigation into ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina concerning allegations of crimes against humanity during the July-August massacres.
The ruling was issued on Tuesday (18 February), by a three-member tribunal chaired by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder.
The tribunal directed that the investigation into the matter, which has been filed as part of a war crimes case, be concluded within one month.
Additional Chief Prosecutor Mizanul Islam, who represented the prosecution during the hearing, stated that the investigation is expected to be completed within the stipulated time frame.
The tribunal's ruling further emphasised that the final report should be submitted by 20 April.
This case stems from two separate lawsuits filed over the July-August killings, where Sheikh Hasina and other political figures, including Obaidul Quader, have been accused of involvement in crimes against humanity.
Previously, on 17 December, the tribunal had ordered the investigation into these charges to be wrapped up within two months, with Sheikh Hasina and 45 others named in the cases.
