The nationwide crackdown, "Operation Devil Hunt," will continue until the instigators of instability are apprehended, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the newly constructed "Mrittika Bhaban" at the Soil Resource Development Institute in the Khamarbari area of the capital on Sunday (9 February), he warned, "The operation will target those determined to destabilise the nation."
The statement follows the recent attack on students and civilians in Gazipur, an incident that prompted the government's swift response.
"Many individuals involved in the attacks on students and citizens in Gazipur have already been brought to justice, and the remaining suspects will be apprehended shortly," he added.
The government had launched "Operation Devil Hunt" in response to Friday's assault on students at the residence of former minister AKM Mozammel Haque in Gazipur.
The operation, which commenced on Saturday night, has seen a significant mobilisation of joint forces to address the unrest.
So far, the joint forces have made 40 arrests, all believed to be affiliated with the Awami League, according to Gazipur Superintendent of Police Dr Chowdhury Jaber Sadek.
Additionally, in connection with the investigation, five senior police officers have been detained, though the Home Affairs Adviser stressed that the public is well aware of the nature of their alleged crimes.
As of now, seven students continue to receive medical treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for injuries sustained during the violent incident.
