The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has lodged a strong protest with the Government of India over alleged false and provocative statements made by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her stay in India.
These comments, reportedly disseminated through social media and other platforms, are being viewed by Dhaka as instigating instability in Bangladesh, said a press note released from Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Thursday.
In the protest note delivered to the Acting High Commissioner of India in Dhaka, the Ministry expressed deep concern, disappointment, and serious reservations regarding Sheikh Hasina's statements.
The Ministry stated that her comments have hurt the sentiments of the Bangladeshi people and are seen as a "hostile act" detrimental to fostering a healthy relationship between the two nations.
The Ministry urged the Government of India to take immediate and appropriate measures to prevent Sheikh Hasina from making what it termed as "false, fabricated, and incendiary" statements while in India. Such actions, the Ministry emphasised, are not conducive to maintaining mutual respect and understanding between the two countries.
