UK Government has announced the launch of the Foundation Project, an initiative aimed at strengthening policy research and governance in Bangladesh by supporting four leading think tanks.
The project seeks to elevate research quality, enhance institutional capacity, and nurture the next generation of policy experts, said a press release.
The initiative will provide funding to the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Research and Policy Integration for Development (RAPID), BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), and Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh (PRI).
The British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cooke, underscored the project's significance in fostering economic policy expertise, stating:
"Investing in the next generation of economic policy experts is crucial for Bangladesh's continued development. This project will contribute to high-quality knowledge, policy ideas, and debates that lead to a more prosperous and inclusive Bangladesh. As part of this initiative, we are also supporting the next generation of women policy experts, ensuring a diverse and inclusive approach to development."
The Foundation Project reaffirms the UK Government’s long-standing commitment to good governance and sustainable development in Bangladesh. By cultivating skilled policy professionals, the initiative aims to bolster Bangladesh’s capacity to address emerging challenges and advance its development agenda.
