Bangladesh's U-19 women’s cricket team clinched an 18-run victory over Scotland, securing a place in the Super Six of the T20 World Cup

Bangladesh’s U-19 women's cricket team achieved their mission of progressing to the Super Six in the T20 World Cup, securing a spot among the top six after defeating Scotland by 18 runs in their final group stage match on Wednesday.

The match, held in Bangi, Malaysia, saw Scotland winning the toss and electing to field first. Bangladesh posted 121 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Sumaiya Akter led the scoring with 29 runs off 36 balls, while Afia Akhter contributed 21 runs from 19 balls.

Naima Sheikh and Maisie Masiyara each took two wickets for Scotland.

In response, Bangladesh’s bowlers dominated early, restricting Scotland to 103 for 8.

Anisa Akter Soba was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets for 25 runs. Habiba Islam Pinky and Nishita Akter Nishi also made crucial contributions with one wicket each.

With this win, Bangladesh moves into Group 1 of the Super Six stage, where they will play two matches.

The team previously began their World Cup campaign with a victory over Nepal, followed by a narrow loss to Australia.

Now, having overcome Scotland, the Junior Tigresses are poised for a semi-final push.

The Super Six phase will see the top three teams from each group advance. From there, the top two teams in each group will secure a place in the semi-finals, scheduled for January 31, with the final to be held on 2 February.
