A 19-year-old drug addict youth raped a 10-year-old flower seller under the Shahbagh Metro Rail Station in Dhaka on Wednesday (15 January) night.
"The victim, a homeless child, who sells flowers in the area. She was admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)," said Ramna Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md Tarekul Islam.
"Raihan, 19, was caught by the people and handed him over to police. We are trying to find the family of the girl," he added.
"People gathered under the metro station after hearing the screams of the child and found her in a bloodied state under the stairs of the station," said a fellow flower seller of the victim.
