Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has summoned bank account information for 14 more journalists, including details of their personal enterprises

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has summoned the bank account details of another 14 journalists, along with directives to provide information on accounts held by their privately owned businesses.

"Instructions have been dispatched to banks and financial institutions regarding this matter," said a senior BFIU official on Wednesday (15 January).

The journalists whose bank details have been sought, include Zulhass Alam, Bureau Chief of AP; Farid Hossain, Advisory Editor of UNB; Shahjahan Sardar, Editor of Bangladesh Journal; Ali Asif Shawon, Staff Reporter at Dhaka Tribune; Nadim Quadir, freelance journalist and former Press Minister; Rajib Ghosh, Senior Reporter at DBC News; Md. Azizul Haque Bhuiyan, Editor of Daily People's Life; Swapan Basu, Sports In-charge at BSS; Tahmida Sadeq Jessie, Staff Reporter at DBC News; Niladri Shekhar Kundu, Senior Reporter at Channel i; Nazrul Kabir, formerly of Bangla TV and Desh TV; Iqbal Karim Nishan, News Editor at Gazi TV; Saju Rahman of Green TV; and Aminur Rashid, formerly of Banglavision.

BFIU has instructed that related documents, such as account opening forms, KYC details, and transaction records, must be submitted within seven working days from the date of the directive.

This summons follows similar actions taken against various professionals, including journalists, after the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August.
