Former two-term president Abdul Hamid has been named as an accused in a case.
On Tuesday (14 January), Tohmul Islam, a 27-year-old resident, filed the case at Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station.
The complaint also names former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and 124 others.
Abdul Hamid, who served as the president from 2013 to 2023, has been residing in his hometown Kishoreganj and Dhaka's Nikunja area post-retirement.
During the height of the protests, his Kishoreganj residence suffered significant vandalism and arson.
The plaintiff, identified as a BNP activist, stated that he was listed among those injured during the uprising.
After a lengthy period of medical treatment, he has now recovered sufficiently to proceed with legal action.
The case lists Abdul Hamid as the third accused, with Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana as the first and second, respectively.
Additionally, the complaint includes at least 250 unnamed individuals.
Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Al Mamun of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted, followed by appropriate legal measures.
According to district police sources, since the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August, Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station has registered 11 cases, contributing to nearly 50 political cases across the district.
