The Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated legal proceedings against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her daughter Saima Wazed (Putul), and 14 others for alleged irregularities in the allocation of plots in the Purbachal New Town project.

The case was filed at the ACC's Dhaka integrated district office, as confirmed by ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain during a press briefing today.

Saima Wazed has been listed as the first accused in the case, followed by Sheikh Hasina as the second accused.

The allegations suggest that Sheikh Hasina, in collaboration with senior officials of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), exploited her authority to facilitate plot allocations based on political considerations. The allocations were reportedly made in her name and in the names of her family members.

According to the case details, six plots, each measuring 10 kathas, were allocated in the diplomatic zone of sector 27 in Purbachal New Town, specifically along road no. 2003.

The ACC alleges that these allocations bypassed standard procedures, raising concerns about abuse of power and favoritism in the process.
