The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced alternative traffic routes for selected roads on the occasion of Victory Day on Monday (16 December).
A public notice signed by the DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali detailed the instructions to ensure smooth movement and avoid congestion during the observance of the day.
As per the notification, in the early hours of 16 December, dignitaries, including the president, chief adviser, chief justice, various government ministers, foreign diplomats, high-ranking officials, and leaders of different organisations will travel to the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar to pay floral tributes.
The notice specifies that, from 3:30am to 9:30am, all categories of vehicles—including buses, trucks, covered vans, microbuses, cars, and CNG autorickshaws—should avoid the Gabtoli–Aminbazar Bridge–Savar Road and use alternative routes instead.
Designated Alternative Routes:
- Vehicles leaving Gabtoli for various destinations via Savar are advised to use the Dhaka Airport Road, Abdullahpur Crossing, and Ashulia Road.
- Vehicles departing from Kalyanpur and Technical Crossing for outside Dhaka are directed to turn right from Technical Crossing and proceed through Mirpur-1 and Diabari Crossing.
- Vehicles entering Dhaka from Aricha via Aminbazar should turn left at Nabinagar Bazaar and travel through Ashulia.
- Vehicles coming from Tangail to Dhaka should follow the Kaliakoir–Gazipur Intersection–Tongi route.
- Residents and road users are urged to cooperate with the authorities and adhere to these alternative routes during the commemorative events. The
