The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to impose travel restrictions on Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim, a former member of parliament for Feni-1, along with four other former lawmakers and their families, amid allegations of corruption.

The decision was taken during the first meeting chaired by the newly appointed ACC Chairman, Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen, and will soon be submitted to the court for further proceedings.

The ACC's Public Relations Officer, Aktarul Islam, confirmed the decision on Thursday (12 December) from the commission’s headquarters.

In addition to Alauddin Nasim, the individuals facing the ban include Noor Nabi Chowdhury Shawon, former member of parliament for Bhola-3; Abu Zahir, former MP for Habiganj-3; HM Ibrahim, former MP for Noakhali-1; and Nur Uddin Chowdhury Noyon, former MP for Lakshmipur-2. The restriction extends to their spouses, sons, and daughters.

The accused are alleged to have engaged in money laundering, abused their authority, and misappropriated funds from various projects. Furthermore, they are accused of amassing significant illegal assets both domestically and internationally.

These allegations underscore the ACC's ongoing efforts to combat corruption and ensure accountability among those who have held public office.
