Dharmapala Weerakkody, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Anwar Hossain, Administrator of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) at the EPB office in the city on Monday.
During the meeting they discussed opportunities for further strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, said a press release.
BGMEA Administrator Anwar Hossain highlighted the potential for collaboration between the two countries in the areas such as joint ventures, technology transfer and skill development.
He expressed his keen interest in exploring new avenues for cooperation with Sri Lanka, particularly in the areas of textile and apparel manufacturing.
Anwar noted that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka share complementary strengths in the textile and apparel industry and could benefit from closer collaboration.
The High Commissioner emphasized fostering closer economic relations with Bangladesh and exploring new avenues of cooperation.
Both sides agreed to work together to take concrete steps to realize the full potential of the bilateral economic partnership.
