The members of Bangladesh Army provided all-out assistances to the local people and the administration in repairing the breached embankment causing flooding to a large area in Bichhat village of Asashuni upazila of Satkhira district on 31 March.
“Currently, two patrol teams from Asashuni Camp are stationed in the area and are providing all-out assistances to the local people and the administration in repairing the embankment,” said a release of the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) this evening.
Earlier on 31 March last, a portion of the embankment in Anulia Union of Asashuni Upazila of Satkhira collapsed, causing around 150 feet of land to be swept away by the Kholpetua River at about 11am.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Satkhira District, Camp Commander of Asashuni Army Camp in Satkhira District under 55 Infantry Division, Upazila Nirbahi Officer and representative of Water Development Board already visited the breached embankment and flooded area and took immediate measures to resolve the crisis, the ISPR said.
Besides, a team of Engineers Battalion from 55 Infantry Division has been sent to the spot to repair the embankment, the release added.
