The winter season has begun to make its presence felt across the country, including the capital, Dhaka. The northern districts are experiencing particularly severe conditions, with roads and thoroughfares shrouded in thick fog during the early hours.

While the mornings may seem relatively mild, the chill intensifies sharply as evening descends.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecasted a further drop in both daytime and nighttime temperatures, ranging from 1 to 3 degrees Celsius across the country.

The weather forecast for Friday (6 December) predicts mostly dry conditions nationwide, with temporarily partly cloudy skies.

Light to moderate fog is expected in some areas from late at night until early morning.

In its synoptic observations, the weather office noted that an extension of the sub-continental high-pressure zone is currently centred over Bihar and adjoining regions.

Meanwhile, the seasonally normal low-pressure area resides in the southern Bay of Bengal, with its extension stretching to the northeast Bay.

The weather will remain largely dry with partly cloudy skies across the country.

Light to moderate fog may occur in some areas from late night to early morning, and a slight drop in both daytime and nighttime temperatures is anticipated.

The gradual decline in temperatures suggests the onset of a more pronounced winter, with its characteristic fog and biting cold gradually enveloping the nation.
