The first test run of trains was conducted across the newly-built Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge over the Jamuna River over the Jamuna River on Tuesday (26 November).
The first trial train started its journey from Bhuapur side in Tangail with three coaches around 10 am while the train returned to the departing station by 10:41 am from the western side of Sirajganj.
The trial runs will go on while operations of commercial trains are likely to start in January next.
It is hoped that this railway bridge will let incessant passage for at least 88 trains daily, considerably dropping travel time.
Among others, Project Implementation Officer of Jamuna Railway Bridge Al Fattah Md Masudur Rahman, Project Manager Mark Hobby from France, Construction Manager Epomapsu in Japan, Track Expert Nakajima in Japan, and Security Engineer Kamrul Hasan Chowdhury were present in Bhuapur side during the test run.
