In connection with crimes against humanity during the July-August massacre, former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and seven other officials were brought before a tribunal on Wednesday (20 November).
The tribunal, led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Murtaza Majumder, comprised three members who will oversee the hearings for the accused individuals.
Those presented to the tribunal include former police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former NTMC director general Major General (Retd) Ziaul Ahsan, former superintendent of police for Dhaka district Md Abdullah Al Kafi, former deputy commissioner of DMP Md Jasim Uddin Molla, former additional superintendent of police (Savar Circle) Md Shahidur Islam, former OC of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan, former OC of Gulshan Police Station Majharul Haque, and former inspector of the Dhaka North Detective Branch Md Arafat Hossain.
On 27 October, the three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Murtaza Majumder accepted the prosecution's petition to summon these eight officials for a hearing.
Arrest warrants were issued for 17 former police officials in connection with the case on crimes against humanity, and those already in custody are being brought before the tribunal for further proceedings.
