Awami League (AL) presidium member and former minister Advocate Qamrul Islam has been arrested on Monday night from the city's Uttara area.
Talibur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media) of the DMP, said a team of DB arrested Qamrul Islam from Sector 12 of Uttara at 10:30pm.
He was taken to DB office on Minto Road.
He was later produced before the court and placed on 8-day remand.
Qamrul Islam, a former member of parliament representing the Dhaka-2 constituency, served as the food minister from 2014 to 2018.
He alse became the state minister of law, justice and parliamentary affairs in the second cabinet of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
