Fourteen accused in the July-August genocide case will be placed before the International Criminal Tribunal on Monday (18 November).
Of the accused, 10 are former ministers, two are former state ministers, two are advisers, one is retired judge, and the rest one is former secretary of home affairs of the ousted Awami League government.
A three-member tribunal headed by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder will hear the petition. The other two members of the tribunal are Justice Md Shafiul Alam Mahmud and retired District and Sessions Judge Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
The accused are former ministers Anisul Huq, Faruk Khan, Dipu Moni, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Abdur Razzaque, Shajahan Khan, and Golam Dastagir Gazi. Two former state ministers are Kamal Ahmed Majumder and Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
The rest four are former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s advisers Salman F Rahman, and Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, retired justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and former home secretary Jahangir Alam.
The International Criminal Tribunal issued arrest warrants for 46 people on 17 October. Of them, 14 were already behind the bars on other charges.
Earlier, ICT Chief Prosecutor Md Tajul Islam appealed to place the 14 suspects arrested in other cases before the tribunal over crimes against humanity.
The tribunal passed order to present them before it on November 18.
Meanwhile, the chief prosecutor has written to Interpol to issue a red alert against Sheikh Hasina.
