The interim government has extended the special executive magistracy powers granted to commissioned officers of the armed forces for an additional 60 days.

A gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Saturday (November 16) confirmed that eligible army officers will act as executive magistrates across the country during this period.

The extension allows army magistrates to address offences under specific sections of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) 1898, including Sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133, and 142.

This move follows a previous order issued on 17 September, granting commissioned army officers similar magistracy powers for two months.
