Police said that former councilor of Feni municipality Amir Hossain Bahar was arrested from Dhaka. He will be sent to jail by the court on Friday (15 November).

Police have arrested seven leaders and activists of Awami League and its associated organisations in the case of murder in the anti-discrimination student movement in Feni.

The arrestees include former councilor of Feni municipality Amir Hossain Bahar, female UP chairman Umme Runa, District Chhatra League former member Eklach Uddin Khandkar Bablu (33), Daganbhuiya Upazila Awami League Senior Joint Convener Hedayet Ullah Sohel (52), Fazilpur Union Social Welfare Secretary Fazlul Haque Suman (26), Kazirbagh Union Awami League Vice President Md. Fayez Ahmed (60) and Motbi Union Ward No. 8 Jubo League President Md. Saddam Hussain (32).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Feni Model Police Station Marma Singh Tripura confirmed the arrests on Thursday (14 November) night.

He said that Amir Hossain Bahar was arrested from Dhaka. He will be sent to jail by the court on Friday (15 November).

Other arrestees were shown arrested in various cases of casualties in the anti-discrimination student movement in the district and they were sent to jail by the court, the OC added.
