The Bangladesh Jewellers Association's (Bajus) standing committee on pricing and price monitoring made the decision during a meeting on Tuesday (12 November) in Dhaka, the association stated in a statement.
For the first time, the price of gold in the country exceeded Tk1 lakh per bhori on 20 July of last year.
Bangladesh requires between 20 and 40 tons of gold every year.
More than 80% of Bangladesh's need for the precious metal is fulfilled by smuggled gold.
