Jatiyo Party MPs won’t take oath tomorrow

The elected MPs of Jatiyo Party are likely to abstain from taking the oath scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday.

The party's candidates won in 11 constituencies in the 12th national election.

"MPs-elect of our party will not take oath tomorrow. The party's elected lawmakers will hold a meeting tomorrow to decide their next course of actions," Mahmud Alam, joint office secretary of the JP, told media today.

Speaker of the parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will be administering the oaths of the newly-elected parliament members.

The oath-taking ceremony will take place in the oath-taking room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 10:00am tomorrow.

Besides, the new cabinet for the 12th National Parliament is set to take the oath on Thursday (11 January) in the evening at Gonobhaban.
