A mild cold wave continues to grip the northern regions of Bangladesh, extending across the entire country.
In several northern districts, temperatures have plunged between 11°C and 13°C, with the sun remaining obscured even at midday.

Among the northern districts, the highest temperature was recorded at 12.5°C in Rangpur and Panchagarh during the same period.
Rangpur Division Weather Office has stated that this cold wave is likely to persist for the next two to three days.
However, a slight improvement in conditions is anticipated thereafter, according to Mostafizur Rahman, a meteorologist at the Rangpur office.
Mustafa Kamal Palash, a Bangladeshi meteorologist at Canada’s University of Saskatchewan, forecasted increased fog on 3 January, particularly in most districts of Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chattogram divisions.
In these regions, the likelihood of sunlight before noon remains low. The densest fog is expected in Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Sunamganj, Habiganj, and Brahmanbaria.
Meanwhile, light to moderate fog is predicted over districts in the remaining five divisions, where sunlight may break through between 10am and 12pm.
On 4 January, denser fog is anticipated in the districts of Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chattogram divisions, while light to moderate fog will affect the rest of the country.
The southern districts face a heightened likelihood of being blanketed by dense fog on 5 January.
Coastal areas of Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions are particularly at risk, along with northern districts of Khulna, and parts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, where light to moderate fog is forecast.
On 6 January, the central and southern districts are expected to witness heavy fog, with dense fog conditions likely over districts in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Dhaka divisions.
By 7 January, the entire nation is predicted to be engulfed in dense fog.
The heaviest fog concentrations are expected over Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Dhaka, and Mymensingh divisions. According to Palash, the weather conditions are expected to improve gradually after this date.
