Reigning the rising price of commodities is the biggest challenge for the government, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said.
“Controlling commodity prices is the biggest challenge,” the minister said while talking to the media after participating in the third day of the Deputy Commissioner's conference at the capital's Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday (5 March).
“DCs have been requested to work to control commodity prices. Especially before Ramadan,” he added.
He said the DCs have been instructed in the meeting to hold the meeting of the law and order committee at the district level every month so that any problem can be solved quickly.
The DCs have been instructed to work to create social awareness against drug use, the minister said.
“We ran campaigns against smoking. Now it is seen that no one smokes in public. If someone smokes, they do it secretly,” he added.
The Home Minister also said that the DCs have been requested to take measures so that sand is not lifted everywhere in the river.
He also said that the security forces will stand by the DCs whenever they need them.
