A writ has been filed with the High Court seeking closure of restaurants in all residential establishments, including Bailey Road, in the capital.

Advocate Yunus Ali Akand lodged the writ with the relevant branch of the High Court on Sunday (3 March 3).

The writ also sought directions to arrest the culprits responsible for the massive fire at Bailey Road. Directions are sought to compensate the families of the victims.

A double bench of the High Court is scheduled to hear the plea later in the day.

A devastating fire that broke out at Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road on Thursday (29 February) night has so far claimed the lives of 46 people.

Some 11 people, who were injured critically, are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
