Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a storm and rain alert for 12 regions across the country, including the capital, warning of gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour.
The advisory, valid from 9:45pm on Tuesday (15 April) to 9am on Wednesday (16 April), was issued specifically for the country’s inland river ports.
According to the forecast, areas in and around Rajshahi, Pabna, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Faridpur, Dhaka, Tangail, Mymensingh, Noakhali, Cumilla and Sylhet may experience temporary gusty or squally winds blowing from the west or north-west, accompanied by rainfall and thunderstorms.
River ports in these regions have been instructed to display warning signal number one.
Meanwhile, various parts of the country witnessed stormy weather on Tuesday, with rainfall recorded in several divisions.
The highest rainfall, measured at 28 millimetres, occurred in the evening.
Rainfall was also reported in the Dhaka, Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions.
