BNP holds talks with chief adviser over polls, political uncertainty

BNP leaders met Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus at the state guesthouse Jamuna on 16 April to discuss electoral issues and seek a clear roadmap

A delegation from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) entered the state guesthouse Jamuna at noon on Wednesday (16 April) for a crucial meeting with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, to discuss elections and other pressing issues.

The delegation, led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, included Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, Mirza Abbas, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, and Nazrul Islam Khan.

Earlier, Salahuddin Ahmed stated that the party had sought time from Dr Yunus to discuss the announcement of a detailed electoral roadmap by December. He emphasised that BNP would determine its next course of action following discussions with the interim government chief.

Salahuddin further noted that a clear roadmap was essential to dispel uncertainty surrounding the forthcoming elections.

Separately, BNP is scheduled to hold talks with the National Consensus Commission at 3pm on Thursday (17 April).
