A Bangladeshi tourist has been killed and over 15 others injured after a bus carrying more than 70 Bangladeshi pilgrims overturned near Bhubaneswar in India’s Odisha state on the morning of 6 April.
The accident occurred close to the Sifar area near Uttara Square, a suburban point in Bhubaneswar.
The deceased's identity has yet to be confirmed, while the injured have been admitted to Capital Hospital, with several reported to be in critical condition.
According to Odisha TV, the ill-fated bus was en route from the Kashi Vishwanath Temple to Puri and was transporting Bangladeshi pilgrims affiliated with ISKCON Mayapur, located in West Bengal.
Emergency response teams, including local police and fire services, arrived promptly at the scene and launched a rescue operation.
Initial reports suggest the vehicle lost control near Uttara Square, leading to the overturn.
The local administration has launched an investigation to determine the precise cause of the crash.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem at Capital Hospital, and efforts are underway to establish the victim’s identity.
