President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus have paid their respects to the nation's heroic martyrs at the National Memorial in Savar, marking the observance of Independence and National Day.
The president arrived at the memorial at approximately 5:50am on Wednesday (26 March), followed by the Chief Adviser at 6:00am.
Both dignitaries laid floral wreaths in tribute to the valiant souls who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, they stood in solemn silence for a moment of reflection, honouring the memory of the fallen heroes.
A smartly turned-out contingent of the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force rendered a state salute as part of the commemoration.
Subsequently, the president and the chief adviser signed the commemorative visitors' book at the memorial premises.
